TMH Foundation Names Patrick Wilson Chairman

With assets of more than $13 million, the foundation provides grants each year to initiatives that advance the health of Trumbull County residents.

House Prices in Youngstown, Warren Region on Upswing
Wednesday, September 03, 2014IRVINE, Calif. -- The prices of houses in the Youngstown-Warren-Boardman area rose 7.4% in July compared with July 2013, CoreLogic announced Tuesday. Month-over-month, the prices rose 2.7% compared to June.
The figures include distressed sales. Distressed sales include short sales and real estate owned transactions.
Excluding distressed sales, year-over-year home prices in the region increased 2.1% in July compared to a year ago. Month-over-month, excluding distressed sales, house prices increased 2.8%.
Chamber Names Coviello Government Affairs VP
Wednesday, September 03, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Guy Coviello has been named vice president of government affairs at the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber. In his new position, Coviello, who begins Sept. 30, will represent interests of the chamber and the business community with federal, state and local elected officials as well as handling news media relations.
He succeeds Tony Paglia, who retired in May.
Rise Pies Opens First Pizzeria in Boardman
Wednesday, September 03, 2014BOARDMAN, Ohio -- With a plan in place to take Youngstown pizza to the rest of the country, Eddie Muransky officially opened the first Rise Pies Tuesday at 439 Boardman-Poland Road.
The restaurant, which has an oven that bakes pizzas at 600 degrees for 20 seconds shy of three minutes, can compete with national chains in terms of speed -- the store's motto is “Pizza perfection in 160 seconds” -- and quality, Muransky asserted.
Dominion JV to Build Atlantic Coast Pipeline
Wednesday, September 03, 2014RICHMOND, Va. -- Four major U.S. energy companies -- Dominion, Duke Energy, Piedmont Natural Gas and AGL Resources -- have formed a joint venture to build and own the proposed Atlantic Coast Pipeline. The pipeline would provide a new route for direct access to the burgeoning production in the Marcellus and Utica shale plays of Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, the companies said.
YNDC Taking Applications for Small Business Loans
Wednesday, September 03, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- In an effort to help small businesses here grow, the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp. is taking applications for equipment loans for anywhere from $1,000 to $10,000 until Oct. 15.
Liberty Merrill, YNDC land re-use director, says applications are open to any startup or business that employs five or fewer, provided the business is in Youngstown and the owner lives in the city. Other factors will also play into whether the credits are granted, she adds.

Half of Americans Avoid Stocks, Bonds Markets
Wednesday, September 03, 2014BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The stock market has recovered since the Great Recession, but many Americans remain wary of investing or simply unable to get started. Just more than half, 51%, said in a survey that they do not invest in the stock or bond markets in any way.
For those that do not invest, 56% say not having enough money is the biggest obstacle, found the Country Financial Security Index survey. Americans also cite their distrust of the stock and bond markets (12%) and not knowing how to get started (11%).
Midlothian Clinic Volunteers Save, Improve Lives
Tuesday, September 02, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Maureen Cronin had served on the board of Midlothian Free Health Clinic Inc. for months when she was asked to take the newly created position of executive director.
“The clinic started to grow and we started to get some federal grants,” Cronin says. “The clinic decided they needed a paid executive director and they offered me the position.”
