GM's February Sales Drop 12% Over Last Year

GM's truck sales (179,390) were down 8.5%, and car sales (129,985) were down 17%."The calendar year is starting off slower than expected, for both GM and the industry," said Mark LaNeve, vice president, GM North America Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing.
FCC Saves Private Ryan from Indecency Fines

ABC stations in Cleveland, Cincinnati and Columbus did not. The Federal Communications Commission yesterday ruled that the violent and profane content of the D-Day movie does not violate the Federal Communications Commission's decency standards, which is precisely how the general manager of WYTV expected the agency to rule. In November, Dave Trabert said WYTV would not join other ABC affiliates in refusing to broadcast the movie to commemorate Veterans Day.
Actress Remembers Deadly 1911 Factory Fire in Monologue

The presentation is set in March 1912, one year after the death of 146 workers at the Triangle Shirt Factory fire in New York. Jasper's character is a woman who survived the fire and seeks to empower women, through informing them of her struggle and triumph. The fire had a significant impact on labor legislation conditions in the United States.The presentation originally was commissioned by the Youngstown Business and Professional Women's Club.
Penn State President Makes Case for More State Funds

Spanier met, with members of the state House Appropriations Committee today to ask that funding for the university be restored to the level received four years ago.Spanier outlined Penn State's position as the leading driver of economic impact in Pennsylvania and the rapidly rising costs that challenge the university.In 2003, for every dollar of appropriation received byPenn State, the university returned $19.42 in total statewide economic impact and $1.56 in tax revenue to the commonwealth, he said.

Bob Robbins (R-50) and Rep. Mike Gruitza (D-7). The grant will help pay for track rehabilitation and new track installation, grading, bridge work and other upgrades aimed at improving the competitiveness of the mill, which employs about 500 area residents.
