KSU Trustees Approve Two Associate Degree Programs
Friday, May 27, 2005KENT, Ohio -- To help Kent State University students secure good jobs and to meet growing regional needs, the KSU Board of Trustees yesterday approved the establishment of associate degree programs in two high-demand fields: occupational therapy assistant and veterinary technology.The occupational therapy assistant program will be offered at the university's Ashtabula Regional Campus, effective spring semester 2006. The veterinary assistant program will be offered at the Tuscarawas Regional Campus, effective fall semester 2006.

YSU Taps Texas Dean as New Provost

Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, has been named provost and vice president for academic affairs at Youngstown State University.Herbert, who also is a professor of sociology and anthropology at Stephen F. Austin, will start the new post on July 25. He replaces Tony Atwater, who resigned from YSU in January to become president of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Cortland Bancorp Declares 22-cents Dividend
Thursday, May 26, 2005CORTLAND, Ohio -- The board of directors of Cortland Bancorp has declared a quarterly dividend of 22 cents per share. The dividend is payable to shareholders of record June 10. The company says it has about 4.2 million shares outstanding. Cortland Bancorp, holding company for Cortland Banks, earned $1.258 million during the first quarter of 2005, an increase of 10.25% from the $1.141 million earned during the first quarter a year ago, said Rodger W. Platt, chairman. Earnings per share increase to $0.30 from the $0.28 earned in the same quarter last year.

Boardman Company Starts Internet Broadcasting Station
Thursday, May 26, 2005BOARDMAN, Ohio -- Tim Sokol, owner of Falkon Enterprises Inc., never imagined that volunteering to help U.S. armed forces would be the impetus for starting Youngstown's first official Internet broadcasting station. But after doing a live feed to the Middle East for U.S. troops from the ITAM center, hundreds of requests came in from various types of organizations as well as private individuals regarding live feeds of all types, he said.The upswing in interest prompted Sokol to create The New TV, which will begin broadcasting at 10 a.m. on Memorial Day from Campbell Memorial High School.
