FAA Awards $449K for Taxi Lane at Regional Airport
Thursday, July 31, 2014WASHINGTON --The Federal Aviation Administration has awarded the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport a grant of $448,767 to build a 365-foot taxi lane to provide access to an aircraft hangar under construction and meet federal design standards, the office of U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan announced today.
The funding will also provide a windcone on Runway 14 to improve safety and provide pilots with “critical airfield information,” the FAA said.
A Day Early, A Dollar Short: Ryan Ends Wage Challenge
Thursday, July 31, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio --Minimum wage proved insufficient for U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan and his family. The congressman spent his family's final dollars on a pack of trail mix in between back-to-back meetings Tuesday afternoon in Washington, D.C., he announced on Facbeook.
On Monday, Ryan announced that he and his family had $30 left to last them through Wednesday, the final day of the challenge.
America Makes Gets Ready for Maker Initiative
Thursday, July 31, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- A driver for FedEx pulls his truck along the curb outside the offices of America Makes downtown, opens the sliding door and unloads a half-dozen boxes.
Within these boxes are components for a 3-D printer system, one of 20 or so that began arriving at various times Wednesday and will continue arriving today in preparation for Make magazine's 3-D printer "shootout" this weekend, part of the four-day Youngstown Maker City launch.
