Glebocki Stepping Down from Wean Foundation
Wednesday, May 08, 2013WARREN, Ohio -- The Raymond J. Wean Foundation announced today that its board of directors is "deeply disappointed" by the decision of its president, Jeffrey M. Glebocki, to step down from his position this summer.
Glebocki took the helm in 2011. According to the announcement, he "initiated discussion with the foundation’s board and has agreed to stay on for 90 days to ease the transition, ensure the organization’s community change work continues and so that a search for a successor can be launched."
Region Sees 1.8B Invested, 36,363 New Jobs in 2012

Exterran CEO: More Shale Industry Growth to Come
Wednesday, May 08, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The president and CEO of Exterran Holdings Inc. says he's optimistic about the future of his company's new manufacturing plant here, and is equally enthusiastic about the potential of the oil and gas industry in the region on which its business depends.
"We think we're just getting started in the development of this natural, vast resource that's in the Marcellus and Utica," said Brad Childers, shortly after he and other dignitaries cut the ribbon for Exterran's $13.2 million fabricating plant. "We expect more to come."
New Permits for Utica Wells in Trumbull, Lawrence
Wednesday, May 08, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Houston-based Halcon Resources Corp. has secured a permit to drill a new horizontal well in Vienna Township as the company continues its exploration in Trumbull County and portions of western Pennsylvania.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources reports that Halcon Resources, a subsidiary Halcon Operating Co. Inc., was awarded a permit April 29 to drill a new Utica well -- the Avalon 1H -- in Vienna Township in Trumbull County in a 209-acre unit.
Anti-Fracking Charter Amendment Defeated
Wednesday, May 08, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- City voters soundly defeated the anti-fracking charter amendment Tuesday, turning down the so-called Community Bill of Rights that sought to ban hydraulic fracturing inside city limits.
The charter amendment gained just 43% of municipal primary voters’ support, with 3,821 voting against it and 2,880 in favor.

CEOs Rank Ohio 22nd for Best Business Setting

Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee and Indiana also made the top five, according to Chief Executive magazine's annual Best & Worst States Survey. The states rated worst are California, New York, Illinois, Massachusetts and New Jersey.
224 Black Bears Sighted in Ohio in 2012
Wednesday, May 08, 2013COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Department of Natural Resources received 224 reported sightings of an estimated 93 black bears in 2012. Trumbull County had the highest confirmed sightings with 10.
Of the 224 sightings reported, 65 were confirmed by the department's Division of Wildlife personnel. Portage County had the highest total at 36, but only six were confirmed. Ashtabula, Geauga and Mahoning counties had five each.
Exterran CEO, Kasich Cut Ribbon at New Plant

Nor could Childers thank enough the 60-some employees now working at the plant who personify the Mahoning Valley’s outstanding work ethic. “They are enthusiastic and chomping at the bit to get this facility up and running,” he said.
