Shell Chemical Begins Bid Round for Ethane Suppliers
Tuesday, August 27, 2013HOUSTON -- Shell Chemical LP today updated its site evaluation process for the petrochemical complex the company is considering for a site in near Monaca, Pa., telling reporters that it is “seeking ethane suppliers.”
Shell began accepting bids Monday and will continue to accept them through Oct. 4. The proposed $3.2 billion-plus cracker plant would process "wet" ethane gas into ethylene, a primary ingredient used in plastics and other material.
Consol Outlines Drilling Plans at Pittsburgh Airport
Tuesday, August 27, 2013PITTSBURGH -- Consol Energy Inc. could drill as many as 47 Marcellus shale wells on six well pads on property at the Pittsburgh International Airport, and then drill into the Upper Devonian shale formation from the same well pads, the company announced this morning.
Consol has entered into a 20-year, $46.3 million lease with the Allegheny County Port Authority that enables the company to drill on airport land. Should the wells prove profitable, the port authority ultimately could receive $500 million in royalties, officials estimate.
Labor Department Sues Phil's Sales and Service
Tuesday, August 27, 2013COLUMBIANA, Ohio --[ The U.S. Department of Labor has filed a lawsuit in U.S. district court for the Northern District of Ohio against Phil’s Sales and Service LLC and shareholders Phillip Welce and Jodee Boerio. The litigation follows an investigation by DOL’s Wage and Hour Division, which disclosed evidence of violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act’s overtime provisions, the government said.
