STEM Academy Proposed for Downtown Youngstown
Wednesday, February 26, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- A new science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM, academy could be in place for the 2015-2016 academic year in downtown Youngstown, an administrator says.
The academy would accept students from the 9th and 10th grades from all over Ohio and would focus on applying STEM skills and principles to manufacturing and entrepreneurship, reports Ron Iarussi, superintendent of the Mahoning County Educational Service Center in Boardman.

Hodge Foundry, Yourga Trucking Get Rail Funds
Wednesday, February 26, 2014HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Rail freight improvement projects for two companies in Mercer County are included in the 33 projects approved Tuesday by Gov.Tom Corbett. The projects are expected to help sustain more than 43,000 jobs across Pennsylvania.
In Mercer County, Hodge Foundry Inc. will receive $524,514 to construct a new 460-foot rail siding on the CN/Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad Co. mainline, and Yourga Trucking Inc. will receive $250,000 to install a new asphalt turnout, 700 feet of embedded track and a bumping post for the end of the track.

Tressel Appears to Want YSU Job, Hagan Reports
Tuesday, February 25, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown State University Board of Trustees is likely to appoint an interim president Wednesday and it will not be Jim Tressel, multiple sources confirm. And should Tressel become YSU’s ninth president, it would occur after he goes through the formal search process.
A special meeting of the board takes place at 5 p.m. tomorrow. Should an interim president be appointed, most likely he or she would be someone already employed by YSU, sources say.
