Workers in Four Big States Say 'Jobs Crisis' Far From Over
Monday, May 03, 2004WASHINGTON -- Four years of non-stop job losses cannot be erased by fractional changes in the unemployment rate, according to a new poll by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. The survey, conducted for the IAM by Fingerhut & Associates, also identifies issues that could decide the upcoming presidential election in the states of Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin and Washington."A tick up or down in the unemployment rate misses the point," says IAM International President Tom Buffenbarger, whose union lost 90,000 members since 2000.
Arms Family Museum Reopens Tomorrow

Some exhibits will remain closed. Those open to the public include Greystone: The Period Rooms of the Arms Family Home; Mahoning Valley Weddings: Romance, Ritual and the Cookie Table; and What's Cookin': Cultural Diversity in Local Foodways.Work continues on making the museum barrier-free to be completed this summer, say officials of the Mahoning Valley Historical Society, which operates the museum.

U.S. Census Bureau to Survey Business Owners
