Boehner to Campaign in Niles, Lisbon on Sunday
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- U.S. House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner will appear in Niles and Lisbon Sunday as part of a statewide get-out-the-vote bus tour in support of Republican candidates.
After a rally welcoming GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, running mate Paul Ryan and surrogates at West Chester -- Boehner's hometown -- the House Speaker will launch his “Real Recovery Road Rally,” which will start at West Chester and conclude Monday in Cincinnati. The statewide get-out-the-vote bus tour will support the GOP presidential ticket, U.S. Senate candidate Josh Mandel and GOP House candidates.
The tour is scheduled to stop at the Niles Victory Center at 4:30 p.m., and at Lisbon Town Square in Lisbon at 6 p.m. At each stop on the statewide tour, Boehner “will thank volunteers, tout local candidates and draw a clear contrast between” Romney’s plan to create jobs and “President Obama’s utter failure to articulate a clear vision for the economy over the next four years,” according to a news release.
Ohio is seen as a must-win state in the presidential contest, and Republicans have pinned hopes on the race between Mandel and incumbent U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown to help claim a majority in that chamber.
Recent polling has shown Democrat Brown with a consistent edge over Mandel in the U.S. Senate race, and most polls show Obama with leads ranging from one to five points in Ohio.
