1.4M Vote Early, Apply for Absentee Ballots
COLUMBUS, Ohio – More than 1.4 million Ohioans have either voted or applied for absentee ballots three weeks before Election Day, Nov. 6, the secretary of state, Jon Husted, announced Wednesday.
“We’re two weeks into early voting and the elections process is running smoothly across Ohio,” he reported.
Based on his informal survey of the 88 county boards of election, as of last Friday, the secretary said:
- 1,268,635 Ohio voters have requested absentee ballots to vote by mail. Of these, 280,300 have been cast.
- In Columbiana County, of the 7,063 requested, 2,167 have been cast.
- In Mahoning County, of the 30,103 requested, 12,436 have been cast.
- In Trumbull County, of the 19,826 requested, 3,065 have been cast.
- 15,975 military and overseas voters who reside in the Buckeye State have requested ballots. Of these, 2,607 have been cast.
- In Columbiana County, 94 have requested ballots and 24 have returned them.
- In Mahoning County, 206 have requested ballots with 43 returned.
- In Trumbull County, 244 have requested ballots and 63 cast.
- 124,073 Ohioans have cast an absentee ballot in person at their board of elections or a designated early vote center. The figure for Columbiana County is 485, for Mahoning County 3,371 and Trumbull County 2,997.
