YSU Internship/Co-Op Expo Today, Awards Feb. 20
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The semi-annual STEM-WCBA Internship/Co-op Expo takes place from 1 to 5 p.m. today in the atrium of Williamson Hall at Youngstown State University. The expo is open to all current STEM and WCBA students.
The expo is hosted by YSU’s College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics professional practice internship program and the Williamson College of Business Administration professional practice internship program. Employers from private, nonprofit and government sectors are invited to participate today and promote available co-op and internship positions.
At 6 p.m. Feb. 20, the 6th Annual STEM College Awards Dinner will be held in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center. The STEM College Awards will be presented at 8 p.m. to distinguished STEM alumni, educators and community leaders.
Award-winners this year include Siemens, outstanding community partner, and Nucor, intern employer of the year. Individual winners are Andrea Arnio, 2007 YSU graduate who works for Novelis Corp. in Warren, outstanding young alumna; Rob Cicchillo, who holds a baccalaureate and master's degree in organic chemistry from YSU and is a biochemist and research and development manager at Dow AgroSciences, outstanding young alumnus; Thomas J. Serenko, chief of Ohio's Geological Survey and a 1985 YSU graduate, outstanding alumnus; William C. Kennedy Jr., 1985 YSU graduate and president of Redex Industries Inc., outstanding alumnus; Tom Reardon, 1974 YSU graduate working at Texas Instruments and mathematics teacher 35 years at Austintown Fitch High School, outstanding education partner; and Teresa McKinney, senior mechanical engineering student at YSU who completed internships at Treemen Industries and Nucor Steel, STEM intern of the year.
The cost is $40 per person and $350 for event sponsorship on the program and a reserved table for eight. Advance registration is required by calling Jenifer Miller at 330 941 4635.
