Ohio Recognizes YSU as Healthful Work Site
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Youngstown State University has been recognized with a Healthy Worksite Award by the Ohio Department of Health. This is the third consecutive year YSU has earned such as award.
For 2013, YSU earned the Silver Award, up from the Bronze awards it received in 2011 and 2012. YSU won the honor in the Large Business category. In all, 40 awards were presented to the 96 that applied. The Ohio State University was the only other university to receive an award, a Bronze.
The awards recognize Ohio employers who demonstrate a commitment to the health of their employees through comprehensive worksite health promotions and wellness programs.
“Many of our health problems can be attributed to poor diets, inactive and sedentary lifestyles, tobacco use, and alcohol and drug consumption, which means preventive health and wellness programs are an essential part of improving health outcomes for all Ohioans,” said Ted Wymyslo, director of the Ohio Department of Health.
“The companies that have won the Healthy Ohio Healthy Worksite award are helping to lead the way in this effort by providing outstanding wellness programs for their employees.”
