Vehicle Sales Rolling Right Along
LIBERTY -- Sales of new and used vehicles by dealers in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties is taking a turn for the better so far this year, according to a report from the Automobile Dealers Association of Eastern Ohio. Total sales are up by 457 units over January and February of 2004.The biggest gain comes in the used car category, with 3,046 units sold year-to-date compared with 2,798 for the two-month period last year. In all, 8,275 vehicles were sold compared with 7,818 last year.For the month of February, a total of 3,715 vehicles were sold, including 1,018 new cars, 722 new trucks, 1,481 used cars and 494 used trucks.Year-to-date by category, 2,724 new cars were sold compared with 2,580 last January and February; 1,461 new trucks (1,456); 3,046 used cars (2,798); and 1,044 used trucks (984).By brand, Chevrolet continued its sales lead with 249 units sold in February and 721 year-to-date, up 65 units from last year's period. Other brands with higher sales so far this year include Ford, with sales of 180 units, up 24 units; and Honda, with 203 units, up 93."
