'Third Debate Is Crucial,' Pollster Says"
UTICA, N.Y. -- With just a few hours remaining before the third and final president debate, President George W. Bush and Sen. John Kerry are in a dead heat -- with 45% apiece."The third debate is crucial," said pollster John Zogby in releasing the results of today's tracking poll. "The two candidates go into the third and final debate tied," he observed. "There is no major sub-group movement to report, but the undecided voters give us the real key to what is happening behind the scenes. Today's three-day track reveals that only 11% of the undecided voters feel that President Bush deserves to be re-elected. That is the lowest figure yet. Two in five -- 40%-- feel it is time for someone new and 49% are undecided about [the president's] future," Zogby said. The telephone poll of 1,232 likely voters, chosen randomly nationwide, was conducted from Saturday through Monday, Oct. 10 to Oct. 12. The margin of error is plus or minus 2.9 percentage points.Visit Zogby International at www.zogby.com"
