Should Kerry Swim With Sharks to Reach Undecided Voters?
NEW YORK -- Democrats love Will and Grace. Undecideds hanker for My Wife & Kids. Dems have an eye for Extreme Makeover. Undecidedsjump for Fear Factor. With the political race heating up in the midst of the Democratic National Convention, it is more important than ever for campaigners to reach the American people effectively and efficiently. Initiative, a media communications agency, today released results from a proprietary study on TV viewing habits of Democrats and undecideds that measures top preferences for each group in the genres of comedy, drama and reality. The survey also ranks the top TV programs based on the leading political issues of Democrats (health care, education and unemployment) and undecideds (education, taxes and national security.)Undecided voters have a tendency to watch shows that have ethnic appeal, such as My Wife & Kids and CSI: Miami, the research found. They are also drawn to the animation, reality TV and talk show genres. Decided voters are more present in TV news than undecided voters. And clearly, the best place to reach undecided voters is in entertainment programming. Here's a closer look at the TV preferences:Comedy: Democrats, Will and Grace, Quints and 2 1/2 Men.
