Sam's Club Launches Vision Insurance for Small Businesses
BENTONVILLE, Ark. -- Sam's Club today announced a new vision insurance plan that is designed to help its small business members offer affordable optical coverage to employees. The Sam's Club Vision Care Program, which complements the club's existing medical, prescription drug, and dental benefits, is available to all Sam's Club Business Plus members nationwide.Despite the importance of providing comprehensive health benefits, only 11% of businesses under 100 employees offer vision care insurance, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Without solid benefits, small firms are often disadvantaged when competing against both small and large organizations to attract and retain the best employees. "Finding comprehensive and affordable coverage is just one of the incredible challenges that business owners and entrepreneurs face every day," said Cara Kinzey, vice president-membership, Sam's Club. "The Sam's Club Vision Care Program offers business owners an affordable vision plan that allows them to provide benefit options for their employees."The program includes both employer-paid and employee-paid plans. Businesses who opt for the employer-paid plan receive a savings per employee, reducing the overall cost to the business.Participants receive one eye exam each year plus coverage on corrective lenses, contacts, and frames from thousands of Wal-Mart or Sam's Club optical departments nationwide. The program also is set up in a way that makes it easy for the business to easily administer it to employees.Members can get more information on the Sam's Club Vision Care Program from their local Sam's Club or at Sam's Club's Web site.Sam's Club, a division of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., is the nation's largest warehouse chain in the United States serving small business owners and operators.
