Camp Ravenna Gets $5.2M for Sewer/Water Extension
RAVENNA, Ohio -- The Camp Ravenna Joint Military Training Center here will receive $5.2 million to extend a sewer/water line at the facility. The money was secured as part of the fiscal 2014 government spending bill, which is expected to pass this week, lawmakers report..
The $5.2 million, which Brown and U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan helped secure, extends the Ravenna water/sewer line. This infrastructure and utility funding coincides with the Ohio National Guard's plans to expand and develop the camp as a major training site.
“Camp Ravenna is a critical component of both our national defense and our local economy in northeast Ohio,” Ryan, D-13 Ohio, said in a news release. “Securing this money improves the long-term prospects of the base and will allow this facility to be an even better place to train our servicemen and women.”
Ryan serves on the House Appropriations Committee, which was responsible for writing the bill.
“This is excellent news for the Camp Ravenna Joint Military Training Center,” Brown, D-Ohio, said. “By developing its utility infrastructure, Camp Ravenna can grow and bring more jobs to Northeast Ohio.”
