Ohio BMV Renews Contract With Cboss Internet
BOARDMAN TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles has contracted with Cboss Internet for another five years to upgrade and host its online license plate renewal system, OPLATES.com. The Web site was designed and built by Cboss Internet, and deployed for the state in December 2000.OPLATES.com is the largest single source of license registrations for the state of Ohio with over 40,000 transactions monthly, according to Ralph Zerbonia, general manager of Cboss. The Web site handles close to a half million online transaction per year. In 2001, OPLATES renewed nearly 250,000 plates; by the end of 2002 it was renewing well over 300,000 plates. In 2003 the number of transactions climbed to over 400,000.After a competitive bidding process, the Cboss proposal was selected based on technical merit and price, Zerbonia says. OPLATES.com provides registration services, vanity plate orders and fleet plate management services.OPLATES.com runs on the Cboss Stateplates solution, a comprehensive online vehicle registration system that allows motor vehicle bureaus to let individual car owners and fleet management companies renew registration and order vanity plates straight from their desktops. The software features a range of customized capabilities such as a real-time integrated help system and backend administration. The revenue generating and cost-saving benefits to BMV implementing an online vehicle registration system such as Stateplates stem from a substantial reduction in time and paperwork, Zerbonia says. The entire OPLATES.com operation, including hosting and upgrades, willcontinue to run out of the Cboss Northeast Ohio Network OperationsCenter here, he notes.Cboss, founded in1994, has designed and implemented systems solutions for city and county governments in Ohio, California, Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina and Wisconsin.Visit Cboss Internet: www.cboss.com"
