MicroSys Computing Breaks Ground for New Building
By Elise McKeownBOARDMAN, Ohio -- Ground was broken yesterday for the 20,000-square foot expansion of Microsys Computing Inc. just two doors away from its existing offices on U.S. 224.The expansion is needed because the medical practice management software company has outgrown it's 5,700-square-foot space, said founder Ajit Kumar. "We are growing and we have every reason to believe that the trend will continue," he noted. "The new building will give us opportunities to do more things than what we are currently doing. We'd like to hire more people, but we can't because the office is packed."Microsys Computing is currently located at 790 Boardman-Canfield Road. The company will continue to produce its flagship product, MicroMD, but the expansion will enable it to add more functionality to the package, Kumar said. The medical community is the main market for MicroMD, and will remain so, but by adding product enhancements Microsys hopes to attract medical practices that haven't found the software to be what they wanted. "With the expansion, we'll have the staff to address those issues," Kumar said. He expects Microsys to grow to 50 employees, from 39.The new building is expected to be complete in December. A main feature will be a conference and training room that holds 100. "We do a lot of training and we always had to look for places to conduct that training," Kumar said. Microsys has clients as well as resellers of its product throughout the country. Local business owners expanding, but remaining in the area, shows that "people are still committed to the Boardman market," said Kathy Miller, Boardman Township trustee, "and that we offer the services that business owners want." "This is where we started and this is where we want to stay," Kumar said. "It has not been an issue finding qualified staff."It's convenient for us," Kumar continued. With many of the company's clients are located out of town, staff members travel frequently and Route 224 provides easy access to the freeway system, he noted.Kumar founded Microsys in 1982. The company provides practice management software and systems consultation to members of the health care industry.Visit MicroSys Computing at http://www.microsys-computing.com/Contact Elise McKeown at [email protected]"
