Lube Techs Reject Union at New Castle Wal-Mart
BENTONVILLE, Ark. -- Workers in the Tire and Lube Express department of the Wal-Mart store in New Castle, Pa., unanimously rejected union representation in an election today, officials with Wal Mart Stores Inc. reported. The United Food and Commercial Workers had sought to organize the 17 workers in the department."We are pleased that our associates finally had a chance to vote and send a strong message to the union," said Terry Srsen, vice president of labor relations for Wal-Mart. "In past elections, the UFCW has been rejected over and over by our associates because they do not feel that a third party would add anything to Wal-Mart's culture or environment."Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. operates Wal-Mart Stores, Supercenters, Neighborhood Markets and Sam's Club locations in the United States.
