Longtime Niles Funeral Home Gets New Owner
NILES, Ohio -- Niles native James R. Williams Jr. recently purchased the oldest funeral home in Niles, Holloway & Sons. Founded in 1875, the funeral home now will be called Holloway-Williams Funeral Home Inc.Until the purchase, four generations of the Holloway family managed and owned the funeral home. Leonard Holloway Jr. will remain as a funeral home consultant.Williams (second from left in photo) is a graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and has been a funeral director for the past 12 years. He has also performed undergraduate work at Miami University of Ohio. He is a graduate of Niles McKinley High School.Also in the photo above from left are Lou Lukz, Christopher Williams and Dell Gray, all of whom are funeral home assistants."I am very dedicated to our area and will honor the funeral home's long heritage," Williams said. "In addition, I also plan to update and freshen the look of the facility."Williams' late father, Dr. James R. Williams, served as a family practitioner in Niles for 30 years and his late mother Marilyn, worked for the Niles Youth League. His sister, the late Dr. Mary Beth Williams, carried on her father's practice.Holloway-Williams Funeral Home, located at 611 Robbins Ave., is a member of the Tri-County Funeral Directors Association, the Ohio Funeral Directors Association and the Ohio Embalmers Association.
