Hubbard Couple Establishes YSU Dietetics Scholarship
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Mark and Kathy Thomson have established a trust to provide scholarships for Youngstown State University students studying dietetics. In recognition of the trust, YSU will name the Fountain Commons Lounge in Kilcawley Center after the Thomsons, who are Hubbard natives and graduates of Hubbard High School.Mark Thomson worked 30 years with United Parcel Service as a driver, supervisor, center manager, division human resource manager and district safety manager before retiring in April 2000. Kathy Thomson worked in the pharmacy of St. Elizabeth Hospital until she and her husband started their family.The couple's daughter, Shannon Stevens, received an associate's degree in dietetics and a bachelor's degree in food and nutrition from YSU.
