Western Reserve Health Foundation Invites Proposals
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Western Reserve Health Foundation, which awards grants to programs that meet health needs in Mahoning County, is inviting proposals to consider for funding later this year.
WRHF Chairman Phillip Dennison, principal at Packer Thomas & Co., said the foundation has the potential to award up to $500,000 in grants in December. But its decisions will be based on the quality of proposals submitted.
“We are very excited about selecting the best plans for funding through our competitive proposal process,” Dennison said. “The needs are enormous, but we are fortunate to have many quality organizations working to address them.”
In May, the foundation announced a $25,000 grant to the Neil Kennedy Recovery Clinic and $10,000 awards to the American Red Cross and Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries.
Those interested in the upcoming grants must complete a letter of inquiry form and submit it by Friday, Aug. 29. The form can be downloaded from the WRHF section of the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley website. Those invited to submit full proposals will be notified in late September.
The Western Reserve Health Foundation receives donations and awards grants that promote health-related needs in Mahoning County. As of June 30, 2014, the foundation had more than $13 million in assets. The foundation was established in the 1980s as the fund-raising arm of the Western Reserve Care System. In 2012, the foundation enlarged its mission to support healthcare needs countywide and became an affiliate of the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley, which awards grants for a broad range of local programs and provides management services to nearly 100 local funds.
