Salem Medical Center Begins $1.1M Capital Campaign

SALEM, Ohio -- The Salem Regional Medical Center Foundation is launching a $1.1 million capital campaign to help fund its $4.6 million oncology expansion project (READ STORY).
The Campaign, “Community Champions – Expanding Cancer Care Together,” includes a number of naming opportunities within the new oncology unit, says Lisa Long, SRMC director of development. Contributors of $1,000 or more will be recognized on a donor wall at the entrance of the new unit. Contributions of any amount are welcome as well as gifts from businesses and organizations, she says.
The new oncology unit will be on the medical center’s second floor, and provide expanded space for medical oncology services and infusion therapy and other treatments. At 11,900 square feet, it will be three times the size of the existing unit’s space.
Community members who serve on the SRMC Foundation board are leading the campaign. They include: Vicki Hall, chair; Frank Zamarelli, vice chair; Robert A. Tullis, secretary; Bobbie Billet; Angela Doty, Derek Hiscox, Shawna L’Italien, George W. Morris III, Rita O’Leary, Todd Olson, David R. Peterson, Jon Rettig Sr., RuthAnn Rinto, Maxine Sanor, Connie Scullion and Gary Sobotka.
Wilmot Sanz, based in Gaithersburg, Md., is the project architect. The Jack Gibson Construction Co., Warren, is the general contractor.
Construction is expected to be completed in September.
