GOP 2004 Platform Committee Needs Suggestions
WASHINGTON -- The Republican National Committee wants you -- well, at least your opinion on the 2004 Republican Platform, says Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.), committee chairman. Earlier today, he announced creation of an online Platform portal and invited Americans to participate in the development of ideas. The Web-based tool, which went live at noon today at 12 p.m., allows Republicans across the nation to contribute to the creation of the party's platform."The best ideas most often come from Americans who solve real problems and live real dreams every single day," Frist says. "With your help, I am confident we will develop a platform that reflects the party's commitment to those issues most important in neighborhoods, homes, faith communities and workplaces all across the United States."The 2004 Platform Committee is responsible for articulating the values and views of the Republican Party. The committee members will work with delegates from across the nation to build a platform that reflects the priorities of the majority of Americans. Suggestions submitted online will be included in that process. "Our goal is to hear from as many voices and points of view as possible," Frist notes. "People who participate online can rest assured that it is well worth their time."Frist will serve as chairman of the 2004 Platform Committee. Rep. Melissa Hart (R-Pa.) and Colorado Gov. Bill Owens are co-chairs. Following a tradition set in 1968, the Chairmanship of the Platform Committee rotates among governors and members of the House and Senate.
