YSU Seeks Employers for STEM/Business Internships
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Youngstown State University is seeking employers to participate in the new internship and cooperative education program funded by a $575,000 grant from the Ohio Board of Regents. More than 100 new internship and coop placements will be developed for science, technology, engineering, mathematics, accounting, finance, management and marketing majors, during the coming year, the university reports.
New placements will begin as early as the spring semester and interested employers are invited to an information session on Jan. 4 from 7:30-9 a.m. in the Williamson College of Business Administration. Presenters will review the new program and how employers can get involved.
Targeted industries for the internship and cooperative education placements are in advanced manufacturing and related key JobsOhio career technology industries:biohealth, additive manufacturing, aerospace & aviation,financial services, and information technology. Increasing career related experiences in technology and business, will help to enhance the quality of technology workers and business professionals in Northeast Ohio.
The new grant will provide partial reimbursement to employers for the wages paid to the interns and coop students.
