Ohio Launches Incumbent Workforce Training Program
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio has a new, aggressive approach to helping workers improve their skills called the Ohio Incumbent Workforce Training Voucher Program. The program provides $20 million for training opportunities designed to enhance worker skills.
“Continuing Ohio’s recovery means helping job-creators and workers have access to the tools they need to modernize and evolve, and one of the most important tools is knowledge," Kasich said. "
The program, administered by the Ohio Development Services Agency, is part of the Gov. John R. Kasich's overall workforce development reform effort. It program provides direct financial assistance to Ohio workers looking to improve their skills and employers looking to enhance the skills of their workforce. Funds are provided to offset a portion of the employer or employee’s costs for training and reimburse eligible employers for specific costs accrued during training, Kasich said.
Applications will be available for the program beginning Jan. 7. Workers and companies can learn more about the program and apply for it by visiting this website.
