Breaking News: Dunn Named Next YSU President
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Randy Dunn, the president of Murray State University in Murray, Ky., moments ago was named the next president of Youngstown State University. The announcement came following a nearly three-hour executive session of the university’s board of trustees. The vote to hire Dunn was unanimous, 8-0. A personnel contract has yet to be signed.
Dunn will become the eight president of YSU, succeeding Cynthia Anderson, who steps down June 30.
Dunn has been the CEO of Murray State since 2006. The school was ranked 11th in U.S. News and World Report's 2013 rankings of comprehensive public universities. It has an enrollment of more than 10,800 students at its main campus and regional campuses at four Kentucky cities at at the Fort Campbell Army Base.
As the president of Murray State, Dunn oversees a $160 million operating budget and 1,500 employees.
Dunn received his bachelor and master's degrees in education from Illinois State University, and his doctorate in educational administration from the University of Illinois. He served as the Illinois superintendent of education from 2004 to 2006.
