Port Authority to 'Consider Appointment' of Official
VIENNA TOWNSHIP, Ohio – The Western Reserve Port Authority could fill its months-vacant position of executive director at a special meeting set for Tuesday “to consider the appointment of a public official.”
The meeting, which will be held at 3 p.m. at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport, was called by Ron Klingle, the port authority’s chairman, according to an advisory sent this afternoon.
The advisory offered no details. Thee appointment likely is the hiring of a new executive director for the port authority. That position has been vacant since Rose Ann DeLeon’s departure earlier this year.
Speculation in recent weeks has centered around the appointment of John Moliterno, owner of Pegasus Printing Group in Youngstown. Moliterno, a past port authority chairman and former president of the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber, confirmed in July he was willing to serve in the role on an interim basis and that he had discussed the position with Klingle.
Moliterno attended a closed-door meeting Thursday with Mahoning County Commissioners and members of the port authority’s board of directors, identifying himself as a “concerned citizen” (READ STORY).
Moliterno had no comment following the meeting. Klingle characterized Moliterno as “an observer” during the meeting. He promised that the community would see “some very positive things coming out of our organization” in the next few weeks.
Neither Moliterno nor Klingle could be reached for comment this afternoon.
Before Thursday's meeting between the commissioners and members of the port authority board and staff, Mahoning County appointed David Mosure to fill the final vacant seat on the port authority's board of directors, following last week's appointment by Trumbull County of Sam Covelli and David Detec (READ STORY).
