NEW MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- NiSource Midstream Services, through its NiSource Charitable Foundation, has donated $40,000 to Springfield Township to fund emergency responder services throughout the township. The donation was jointly announced this morning by NiSource and the township.
“The health and safety of the people of Springfield Township, as well as our first responders, is of the utmost important to us, and this donation will enable us to enhance the services we’re able to provide to the community,” said township Trustee Robert Orr.
NiSource Midstream Services is constructing the Hickory Bend Gathering System and processing plant here on behalf of Pennant Midstream LLC. Pennant is a joint venture between NiSource and Harvest Pipeline Co., an affiliate of Hilcorp Energy Co. The companies held a dedication ceremony Oct. 28 at the Hickory Bend site, which was attended by Gov. John R. Kasich.
Springfield Township’s emergency responders are collaborating with training personnel on the operations that will take place at the processing plant and are becoming familiar with the site and its workers, according to Orr. “NiSource is a company that has been a good neighbor to us, and has committed to provide safe, reliable and responsible natural gas gathering and processing in our community,” he said.
“We chose Springfield Township as the heart of our Pennant system, where we can support the economic development of this area,” said the CEO of NiSource Midstream, Chad Zamarin. “We thank Springfield Township and its leadership, and we are pleased to be able to give back to the community.”
