More Drilling Permits in Columbiana, Carroll Counties
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Ohio Department of Natural Resources issued seven new permits last week for Oklahoma-based Chesapeake Exploration LLC to drill new natural gas wells in Columbiana, Carroll and Portage counties.
The two permits in Washington and Hanover townships mark Chesapeake's 20th and 21st horizontal drilling permits in Columbiana, third permit in Washington Township and fifth in Hanover Township.
All three permits in Washington Township are for the Janie Trust property.
The latest permit in Hanover is the second on the Trebilcock property.
Chesapeake’s four latest horizontal drilling permits in Carroll are for the P. Brown and Coe properties in Lee Township, the Tuckosh property in Loudon, and the Graham property in that county’s Washington Township.
Permits that Chesapeake applied for March 12 to drill wells on the Coe and Loudon properties await approval from ODNR and, if approved, would be the second well on both properties.
Chesapeake’s total number of well permits in Carroll has reached 55.
The latest well permit in Portage is Chespapeake’s sixth in that county and second on the Murvay property in Freedom Township. The first well on the property, permitted Nov. 6, is drilled and waiting to be hydraulically fractured.
