Former Chesapeake Exec Heads Marcellus Coalition
PITTSBURGH -- The Marcellus Shale Coalition has named David Spigelmyer as the organization's president. Spigelmyer, formerly vice president of Chesapeake Energy Corp.'s Appalachia division, assumed the position Monday. He replaces Kathryn Klaber.
Spigelmyer's selection followed a two-month search process, says the coalition's chairman, Randy Albert, Consol Energy's COO of gas operations.
“While our industry has accomplished a great deal for the entire Commonwealth and for our nation over the past several years, big challenges remain on the horizon. And after undertaking an exhaustive executive search process, which included many highly-qualified candidates, it was clear to our board that Dave is the right individual at the right time to lead our organization,” said Randy Albert, MSC chairman and COO of Consol Energy's gas operations.
At Chesapeake, Spigelmyer was responsible for government relations, regulatory policy, stakeholder engagement and communications efforts. Prior to Chesapeake, he served in similar roles at EQT Corporation and Dominion Resources and held other energy industry-related positions in New York State as well as in Washington. Spigelmyer is a Penn State University graduate and an active outdoorsman.
“Safe shale development has been one of the most transformative turning points in our commonwealth’s history," he said in a statement. "It is our collective responsibility to make certain that we continue to get this historic opportunity right, now and for generations to come, and we will deliver this message to stakeholders at all levels in a positive and fact-based manner.”
