Chesapeake Gets 3 More Permits for Columbiana
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources issued three horizontal well permits to Chesapeake Exploration last week to horizontally drill in three Columbiana County townships.
Another three permits were issued across the state to drill into the Utica shale.
In Columbiana County, ODNR issued Chesapeake permits to drill on the Wallace property in Salem Township, on the Riffle property in Elkrun Township, and on the Jan Paul Farms property in Hanover Township.
There are 39 horizontal drilling permits issued in the county, five permits in Elkrun and 13 in Hanover. This is the first such permit issued in Salem. This is the third permit to drill at Jan Paul Farms.
Elsewhere in the state, Chesapeake was awarded one horizontal permits to drill in Harrison County and a permit to drill in Jefferson County, Gulfport Energy Corp. was awarded one horizontal drilling permit to drill in Belmont County, and Devon Energy Production was awarded one horizontal drilling permit to drill in Wayne County.
No new activity was reported in Trumbull, Mahoning or Carroll counties.
