Two Men and a Truck Franchise Opens in Youngstown
"YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Robert Gomori Jr. and his father, Robert Gomori St., have opened a Two Men and a Truck franchise here. The franchise has five employees, and plans call for hiring six more by the end of this year. The Youngstown franchise is part of the Lansing, Mich.-based Two Men and a Truck International Inc. system that includes 152 locations in 27 states and almost 1,000 trucks. In addition to offering local residential and commercial moving services, the franchise will sell boxes and packing supplies and offer complete packing services, according to Robert Gomori. "We can move anything ranging from one large item to an entire household or business," he said.As part of their franchise training, the Gomoris attended Stick Men University, a specialized training center operated by the corporate office in Lansing. Attendees learn the latest operational techniques and sharpen their skills in a number of other areas including customer service, marketing, management, and computer technology, Gomori said. Gomori also plans on investing a lot of time in his community through charitable work. The American Cancer Society, he said, will receive 10 cents from every move in Youngstown -- as with every franchise in the system. Founded in 1985, the Two Men and a Truck system began when Mary Ellen Sheets, chief executive officer and founder, took over her sons' moving business. Sheets' daughter, Melanie Bergeron, joined the business in 1994 as president, and her two sons, Brig and Jon Sorber -- the original "two men" -- still play key roles in the company's operations.
