Toys for Tots Campaigns in Full Swing
"BOARDMAN, Ohio -- Offices of Coldwell Banker First Place Real Estate and Thiel College, Greenville, Pa., are among area sponsors of the Toys for Tots program this year. Thiel will accept donations until Dec. 9, and the Coldwell Banker campaign ends Dec. 20.Residents are invited to drop off new, unwrapped toys at the Boardman, Canfield, Howland, Liberty, Champion, Columbiana, and Austintown offices of Coldwell Banker, an official sponsor of the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program for about a decade, according to Eric Caspary, company president. Last year, he said, a total of 15,000 toys were collected for children in the Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana County areas. The toys are delivered to the Salvation Army, which distributes them to underprivileged children.Meanwhile, the Thiel College Campus Police and Greenville-West Salem Township Police are teaming up for the second year to conduct the Toys for Tots drive in Greenville. New toys will be distributed to children in the Greenville-Mercer County area."Our students and campus family, along with the citizens of Greenville, did a great job last year and I am looking forward to this year's Toys for Tots campaign," said Donald Aubrecht, Thiel police chief. "Last year we were able to collect so many toys and make the holiday a happy one for so many families."New toys can be dropped off at the Thiel Public Safety Building, Packard Avenue, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. daily or at the Greenville-West Salem Township Police Department at the intersection of Main and Water streets. U.S. Marine Corps representatives will pick up the toys on Dec. 10, Aubrecht said.Coldwell Banker also is conducting special events as part of the Toys for Tots campaign. From noon to 3 p.m. Dec. 11, children who visit the Boardman and Howland office can have a photo taken with Santa and make a donation. "We're hoping to have at least 200 children between the two events," said Dee Berarducci, chairperson of the Toys for Tots committee and Coldwell Banker agent. She and 23 other agents have organized the Toys for Tots events. The offices also are selling raffle tickets for $5 each to win a number of donated gift items including gift baskets, an X-Box Video Game Player and a motorized Hummer for children. Raffle tickets will be sold until Dec. 11.In addition, $10 raffle tickets will be sold through Dec. 11 for a chauffeur-driven ride to Anthony's on the River for dinner and an overnight stay at the Holiday Inn in Boardman.For more information on the Thiel program, call Aubrecht at (724) 589-2222.For more information on Coldwell Banker First Place Real Estate's program, call (800) 633-8860."
