Table Tennis Tourney Benefits Second Harvest Food Bank
"YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The first Paddle Battle Against Hunger Table Tennis Tournament will benefit Second Harvest Food Bank, organizers announced recently. Local champion table tennis player Phil Panno will give an exhibition at the March 19 event and provide dinner for two to anyone who can score five points playing against him.The tournament will begin at 9 a.m. at Second Harvest Food Bank on Salt Springs Road. Representatives from businesses, civic organizations, churches and the general public are invited to enter the competition. The single entry fee is $100, and all proceeds will benefit the local food bank. Hot dogs and soft drinks will be available.Second Harvest Food Bank provides food to 190 hunger relief programs in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties. In 2004, the organization distributed 4.3 million pounds of food to hungry families in these communities. "
