RTI Metals Subsidiary Secures Contract in Europe
"NILES, Ohio -- RTI Europe Ltd., a subsidiary of RTI International Metals Inc., has entered into a new agreement with BAE Systems to provide value-added titanium flat-rolled products for the Eurofighter aircraft through 2009, according to Timothy G. Rupert, RTI president and chief executive officer. "This contract, in combination with the new EADS/Airbus contract announced last week, underscores RTI's growing strength in Europe, not only in supplying titanium and other special metals, but through its increasing capability to add value for its customers," Rupert said. The Eurofighter, also known as the Typhoon, is a fighter aircraft produced jointly by four European nations -- UK, Germany, Spain and Italy, he noted. Production of a second tranche of 254 aircraft is expected to begin shortly. The products RTI will supply include engineered flat-rolled products for use in superplastic-formed and diffusion-bonded parts. The contract increases RTI's participation in the program, which will be serviced from the Company's facility in Birmingham, England. Last week, RTI Europe entered into a new multi-year contract with EADS to supply value-added titanium and parts to its Airbus programs and military projects. RTI International Metals is one of the world's largest producers of titanium. Visit RTI International Metals: www.rtiintl.com"
