Paper Names Former City Official Implicated in Scheme
"WARREN, Ohio -- This morning's edition of the Tribune Chronicle names the former Warren city official implicated in an alleged fraud scheme involving a former Ohio Edison executive. David Robison, who was the city's director of engineering, planning and zoning, reportedly had his golf clubs stolen from the city-owned Avalon South Golf Course in the summer of 1999 -- an incident that was the genesis of the fraud scheme that yesterday resulted in Gregory S. Petrasek being charged with mail fraud. The Tribune Chronicle cited a story it published June 29, 2002, which reported "an attorney for Avalon South Golf Course Manager Tony Joy said in 1999 that Petrasek and Robison...told Joy that Robison's golf clubs had been stolen from his car and asked Joy to replace them. Attorney Richard Schwartz said the two promised Joy payment when the insurance company reimbursed Robison."The newspaper also reported that Petrasek "has a plea agreement in place" and is cooperating with federal authorities. The mail fraud charge against Petrasek results from the Federal Bureau of Investigation's public corruption task force, which is focusing on Trumbull County.Robison has not been charged."
