"Ohio, Pennsylvania Get $15.1 Million for Transportation Projects"
"WASHINGTON -- Newly released funds from the Federal Highway Administration designed help reduce congestion, enhance safety and improve traffic flow at key transportation projects in Ohio and Pennsylvania target a number of projects in the Mahoning Valley, according to U.S. Transportation Secretary Norman Y. Mineta.In Ohio, Mineta says the Bush administration is providing more than $6.9 million for construction of additional lanes on Interstate 75 in Dayton; make safety improvements to the Akron-Canton airport/Interstate 77 interchange and 13 other Ohio transportation projects. Pennsylvania projects to receive funding include more than $8.2 million for construction of a new interchange between Interstate 95 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike, the reconstruction and widening of Interstate 476 in Philadelphia and 18 other projects.In Ohio, a total of $1.1 million is slated for additional I-75 lanes and almost $580,000 will be used for Interstate 77 interchange improvements. Major projects to receive funding in the Keystone State include $1.1 million for the I-95/Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange and more than $481,000 for I-476 improvements. Other projects include almost $464,000 for ferry boats for the Erie-Western Pennsylvania Port Authority and more than $434,000 for the renovation of exits 298 and 299 on Interstate 80 near Stroudsburg.Mahoning Valley projects included in the grants include St. Clair Avenue in East Liverpool, $289,946, and Riverwalk Warren, $289,946."
