Lawrence County Lights Up Holiday Season Nov. 11
"NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- A spectacular evening of family fun will launch the holiday season Nov. 18 with live entertainment downtown followed by a tradition-rich parade, the illumination of downtown holiday and fireworks. Performances will take place in front of Eckerd Drugs, Butz Flowers, Sky Bank, and Washington Center, as well as along North Street. The entertainers will move from station to station, insuring that spectators can enjoy all of the scheduled performances without losing their parade viewing spots on the curbs. Performers will include: Paws and Taws, The Country Cloggers, Sanky Stomp Team, Dance Implosion, the Lincoln High School Jazz Band and the New Castle Choralaires. New for 2004, North Street will be specially designated as 'North Pole Street' and will have special events just for children. In addition to McGruff the Crime Dog, one of the highlights will be a mailbox where children can mail their letters to SantaThe New Castle Transit Authority will provide bussing into downtown from four outer locations. Those choosing to avoid the traffic downtown can catch the bus at Union Square Plaza, Lawrence Village Plaza, Jameson South Parking Lot or the Cathedral's extra parking lot at the corner of Park and Mercer. Bus riders will be dropped off within walking distance of the parade route.Weather permitting, the fireworks will light up the sky at 8:45 p.m."
