Grove City Prof Book on Reagan Now in Paperback
"GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The presidential biography God and Ronald Reagan: A Spiritual Life by Grove City College political science professor Dr. Paul Kengor is now available in paperback from Regan Books, a division of HarperCollins. The best-seller highlighting Reagan's religiosity was released in paperback last week, according to a college news release.Feb. 6 would have been Reagan's 94th birthday. The new paperback edition offers the only complete story on Reagan and his relationship with God. The first edition of God and Ronald Reagan was published before his death, and was thus an unfinished work. This edition details Reagan's final moments, his death and the reaction that followed. The spiritual significance of the days before and after Reagan's death was remarkable, and is illuminated in the pages of the expanded paperback edition, the release stated. The book, released last January in hardback, renewed interested in the religious life of the 40th President, who died June 5, 2004. According to the book jacket, "Ronald Reagan is hailed today for a presidency that restored optimism to America, engendered years of economic prosperity and helped bring about the fall of the Soviet Union. Yet until now little attention has been paid to the role Reagan's personal spirituality played in his political career, shaping his ideas, bolstering his resolve, and ultimately compelling him to confront the brutal -- and, not coincidentally, atheistic -- Soviet empire." In the book, Kengor draws upon Reagan's legacy of speeches and correspondence, and the memories of those who knew him well to reveal a man whose Christian faith remained deep and consistent throughout his more than six decades in public life.
