Delphi Will Supply Satellite Radios to Ford in 2006
"DETROIT -- Delphi Corp. will supply Sirius Satellite Radio receivers to Ford Motor Co. for select 2006 Ford and Lincoln Mercury models beginning this summer, company officials announced at the 2005 North American International Auto Show yesterday. The units will be a factory-installed option on 2006 model-year vehicles, including the Ford F-150, Ford Explorer, Lincoln Mark LT and Mercury Mountaineer and will be offered on additional future models. The new business expands Delphi's supply of audio products to Ford. Delphi supplies AM/FM/CD playback head units to Ford today on various Ford models. "Consumers who experience satellite radio clearly love it," said Beth Schwarting, general director of sales and marketing at Delphi.Starting in 1936, Delphi was the first manufacturer to integrate a factory-installed in-dash radio in the instrument panel of a vehicle and has pioneered much of the progress of wireless mobile entertainment since that time, officials said. The company has since produced more than 255 million audio units."
