VLT Wagers at Racino Total $268M Through December
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Patrons wagered $268.4 million at video lottery terminals at Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course through December, the Ohio Lottery Commission reported.
Bettors at the Austintown racino played $68.9 million in credits on the VLTs last month, including $537,461 in promotional play credits. according to the monthly VLT reports released Wednesday. That was up from the $66.9 million in VLT revenue during November. Patrons in November wagered $388,327 in promotional play credits in November.
“We continue to be pleased with the performance of the facility,” said Bob Tenenbaum, spokesman for Penn National Gaming inc., the Wyomissing, Pa., company that operates the racino.
“It’s also obviously way too early to get any feel for what long-term revenue is going to be, but we’re pleased with the first three and a half months,” he continued.
Patrons won credits worth $61.2 million in December, up from $59.5 million in November. Net win in December was $7.2 million, up from just under $7 million in November.
The average number of VLTs per day in December was 866, with a $267 win per VLT per day.
Credits won from its September opening through December totaled $238.5 million, with a net win of $28.7 million. Promotional play credits were $1.3 million.
The racino’s commission -- the portion of net win paid to the racino operator, Penn National Gaming Inc., for operating the racino -- totaled $4.7 million in December and was just under $19 million from September through the end of the year. The Ohio Lottery Commission received $2.4 million last month and has collected $9.6 million since its opening.
At Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway, which opened in August, credits played in December totaled $68.1 million and credits won was $60.9 million. Net win that month was $6.8 million. From its opening through the end of the year, $301.7 million credits were played and $2.69.5 million credits were won, with a net win of $27.8 million.
Statewide, VLT wagers totaled $711.4 million in December and $4.1 billion from July, the beginning of the current fiscal year, through December. Credits won statewide totaled $634.6 million in December and $3.6 billion for the first half of the fiscal year. Net win statewide was $64.7 million in December and $362.7 million for the fiscal year to date.
