Valerlus Gets Order from EQT Corp.
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Valerus has been awarded a contract from Pittsburgh-based EQT Corp. to provide 15,000 HP of compression for two compression stations in southwest Pennsylvania.
Valerus said it will assemble the large horsepower components in their Smithfield, Pa., facility beginning in this month. Compression and other mission-critical equipment will be deployed in the Marcellus and Utica shale fields leveraging Valerus and other local companies. Local hiring in the Valerus facility is expected to increase, the company said.
Valerus, based in Houston, operates a plant in partnership with Youngstown-based Brilex Corp on Andrews Avenue.
Valerus has served the northeast U.S. since 2009 and opened the Smithfield location in 2010.
“This project will create more jobs at our Smithfield facility and at the local companies that will work with us to manufacture components,” said Chris Scheve, VP of Northeast operations for Valerus. “The sum total of this effort will be an increased ability to provide Valerus customers in the Marcellus and Utica shale plays with access to compression more quickly and at reduced transportation costs than if it was manufactured elsewhere.”
Valerus’ products and services include reciprocating compressor packages, production equipment, gas processing solutions, liquid separation systems and a variety of professional field services.
