Kerns Named Youngstown Postmaster
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The U.S. Postal Service has named Thomas Kerns of Niles as the 34th postmaster of Youngstown.
Kerns, who assumes his new duties effective Saturday, will be responsible for overseeing mail collection, delivery services, and retail operations in Youngstown, Austintown, Boardman, Poland and Liberty Township. The 278 employees of the Youngstown Post Office deliver to 82,716 residential and businesses addresses.
Kerns, a native of Warren, began with the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier in Springfield and later transferred to Warren. Other positions held with the service include supervisor of customer service for the Niles and Cortland post offices, manager of customer service for the Warren Parcel Post Annex, postmaster of Warren, and manager of post office operations for the Postal Service’s Northern Ohio District. He has also served as management team leader for the Akron District joint route inspection team and acting postmaster of the Hubbard, Niles, Warren and Youngstown post offices.
