Berry Firm Designs Proposed Middleburg Heights Hilton
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- A proposal to build an 111-room Home 2 Suites Hotel by Hilton will go before the Middleburg Heights Planning Commission Jan. 28. The project architect on the hotel, which is being developed by Sunshine Inc., is Stephen Berry of Stephen Berry/Architectural Design Inc. in Boardman.
The hotel will be four stories tall with 67,000 square feet of hotel and meeting space and will feature one- and two-bed extended stay suites, reorted Berry in a news release. It will also include an enlarged lobby gathering zone, an indoor swimming pool, a fitness center, an exterior dining area and an outdoor living room.
Hilton Worldwide granted permission to Berry, whose firm is recognized as a preferred vendor by the hospitality chain, to upgrade the brand’s standard prototype to better harmonize with the character of the surrounding community.
Berry said he designed the exterior to complement the surrounding architecture of Middleburg Heights with rustic brick facades and stone accents topped by distinctive roof cornices all around the building. Two vertical tower elements will accentuate the hotel entry and the Engle Road approach to the proposed site.
