Chevy Cobalts Go on Parade in Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH -- Seventy Lordstown-built Chevrolet Cobalts, accompanied by a police escort, completed a 20-mile charity poker run here Dec. 8 that will provide $15,000-worth of gifts for underprivileged children. The Pittsburgh area Chevrolet Dealers Association sponsored the event, which began at the Chevrolet Amphitheater at Station Square. The caravan visited several Toys R Us stores to collect gifts for the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots campaign and children enrolled in the Pennsylvania State Police Cadets Program, a camp for underprivileged children.Rocky Blier and several former Pittsburgh Steelers football players were among the celebrities participating."The event was very well conducted and was a great way to promote our new car and a great way to benefit some very worthy charities," says Tom Mock, communications integrator at GM's Lordstown complex."I'm hoping we can do something similar [to the Pittsburgh charity poker run] here in 2005," Mock says. "I'm sure Chevrolet dealers in the Mahoning Valley would be very supportive of such an event." "
