Champion Molded Plastics Plans Expansion to Niles Commerce Park
WARREN, Ohio -- The Board of the Trumbull County Commissioners yesterday granted Champion Molded Plastics, Masury, an enterprise zone agreement intended to help the company expand into additional manufacturing space in Weathersfield.The agreement calls for a 60% tax abatement over 10 years for capital investments in new personal property, reported Mark Zigmont, a planner for the Trumbull County Planning Commission.Champion plans to lease new space at the Niles Commerce Park, and the abatement covers between $2 million and $2.5 million in new machinery, $20,000 to $40,000 in new fixtures and $300,000 to $600,000 in new inventory, Zigmont said.The company will continue operations in Masury and add between six and eight new plastics-injection molding machines at the new site, Zigmont said. Champion has pledged to create 20 new full-time jobs within two years after the project is completed. The company employs 85.Weathersfield Township trustees also approved the tax abatement package at their meeting Wednesday."
