Bosley's Dance Ranks No. 6 in Top 20 Media Stories
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- NewsBlues, a paid-subscription Internet site that TV news insiders flock to for a daily compilation of industry gossip, ranks Catherine Bosley's story as the sixth best this year. The Youngstown woman's escapade during a wet T-shirt contest at a Florida bar in April 2002 escalated into a national media story when pictures of her nude dance were circulated on the Internet. At the time, Bosley was the anchor of WKBN-TV's First News This Morning. She resigned Dec. 26 and is now a co-host of WYFM radio's "Y-103 Morning Show."The NewsBlues site, posted by a former broadcaster who accurately describes himself as "your surly editor," combined Bosley's story with the notoriety Cleveland TV anchor Sharon Reed generated when she took off her clothes for a mass photograph by an artist. The "Local Nudes" story beat out other gossipy media stories such as Bill O'Reilly being sued for sexual harassment (No. 8 ) and the network morning news competition (No. 10). The top five media stories will be posted on the NewsBlues site tomorrow. This week Bosley made local news when she and her husband, Richard Brown, sued WFMJ-TV, one of its reporters and technicians, and Andrews Cycle for allegedly distributing copyrighted images of her nude dance. Bosley and her husband secured the copyrights after suing some 25 online pornography sites and video producers. That suit was settled out of court. Copyright law does not date the origination of the copyright to when it was legally certified."
