Penn State Shenango to Hold Cancer Fundraiser
SHARON, Pa. -- The third annual THON Spaghetti Dinner, a fundraiser sponsored by Penn State Shenango, will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 12. All proceeds support children with cancer.
The menu consists of spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread, cake and beverages. Takeout meals will be available.
Tickets bought in advance are $8, at the door $10. Those ages 65 and older or 5 and younger will be chraged $5. Advance tickets are sold at the Student Affairs Office in Sharon Hall.
"The miraculous feeling you get being a part of this organization is indescribable; I’m very proud to be a part of THON because every year we get closer to finding a cure for kids with pediatric cancer," said Khyana Johnson, THON chairman, in a prepared statement.
THON is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world. Since 1977, when THON was established, Penn State students have raised more than $101 million for the Four Diamonds Fund. This effort engages more than 15,000 students across the commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
In 2013-2014, Penn State Shenango raised more than $10,300. This year’s goal is $15,000, Johnson said.
